Theatreplan renewed the house lighting in the concert hall and upgraded ageing infrastructure across the entire site, to provide improved facilities with a very high level of integration with other systems.

An important outcome of the upgrade was to reduce power consumption and provide better zoning and controllability across the venue. It was also clear from early workshops that the systems would need to be extremely resilient to ensure a very high level of ‘up-time’, whilst also offering extreme flexibility in the form of powerful user control panels.

The installation was divided into two phases to prioritise the upgrade of the house lighting during a short dark period. The old tungsten house light fittings in the main auditorium were replaced with dimmable LED units. Much of the existing mains wiring was reused, with new control infrastructure being added where possible.

In place of numerous lighting controls and seven different audio systems in the building, control of the venue's technical systems is now achievable on an iPad. The venue found it could achieve much faster show turnaround times and considerable energy savings.
