Theatreplan's expanded AVB department brings an interesting mix of skills and experience to the practice
Theatreplan’s newly recruited Audio, Video, Broadcast team has now been in place for six months.
Jibril Muhammad was first to join the team as Consultant Intern in February 2023. Jibril studied Sound Design Technology and worked as a visiting lecturer at the University of Hertfordshire. He worked for Lonesome Dog Studios as a Music Content Creator to create educational but digestible assets to record for their YouTube channel, and boost their social media presence. Jibril also spent time as an Audio Engineer responsible for recording vocalists, DJs and performers. After six months, Jibril joined the permanent team as Junior Consultant and has been undertaking extensive training and supporting the team on a range of projects since then.
Production and broadcast specialist Kit Lerman joined Theatreplan in March as Consultant and Head of Audio, Video and Broadcast. Kit was Associate Production Manager for the Royal Opera House for over five years, where he organised live events and live broadcasts across all ROH stages. Kit subsequently worked as Head of Production and Delivery at the prestigious Serpentine Galleries in London, where he focused on building and later expanding a new department, to manage the complex exhibition and live events programmes. Kit will bring his expertise in identifying technology growth areas for theatre and performance, with an eye on future proofing and equipping venues with the latest and most efficient technology, able to support future programming requirements. Kit is also passionate about environmental sustainability and aims to assist theatres in improving their infrastructure and facilities by implementing greener technical solutions and practices.
Ewan Munro completed the team in April, after a meteoric career rise in the professional theatre, latterly as Head of Sound on the award-winning west end musical, ‘& Juliet’ in London, Melbourne, and Broadway. After completing a BSc (Hons) degree in Audio Engineering, Ewan’s other previous experience included being Deputy Head of Sound at the Harold Pinter Theatre and being Associate Sound Designer for Jack and the Beanstalk at the London Palladium. In his spare time, Ewan is completing an MSc in Digital Audio Engineering.
Executive Director Mathew Smethurst-Evans said, “The new Audio, Video & Broadcast team brings a wide and interesting mix of work experiences and skills to Theatreplan and will help develop our expertise further in this field, opening-up new areas of work and further enriching current projects.
