Chris Clegg
Senior Associate
Chris is the principal designer at Clegg Designs, based in Sydney Australia. With a wide range of experience in the theatre and entertainment industry, he specialises in the design and integration of machinery and the mechanical product design of equipment with a key focus on risk mitigation and safety in design.
Chris has an extensive background in hoists, winches and lifting equipment, rigging systems and bespoke access and material handling solutions that are operating in a high-risk environment. With a background in lighting production and over 20 years working in the design industry with a focus on stage machinery and equipment for the theatre and entertainment sector.
Chris’ background in fitting and turning, toolmaking, sheet-metal fabrication, small to medium structural steelwork and machine assembly, gives him the hands-on experience on not only how a product is designed but also how it is manufactured, assembled, used and maintained.
Prior to starting Clegg Designs, Chris worked for Jands as a lead designer and design manager of many large projects around Australia including Sydney Opera House, Queensland Performing Arts Centre, and Victorian Arts Centre to name just a few.
Chris’ skills and services range from Design Consulting, Mechanical Product Design to Design Management and is happy to work at any stage throughout the project. Chris likes to fully understand the requirements of the customer, client and end user and develop results that meet their needs.
