Matt Kingslake
Consultant

Matt is a graduate of the Royal Northern College of Music in Manchester and planned to be a musician before discovering his true vocation in technical theatre. He is a highly experienced Performance Technology Consultant working across several Theatreplan’s projects providing technical infrastructure design and advice.
Before joining Theatreplan in 2016, Matt spent 12 years as the first Technical Manager of the 700-seat Grove Theatre, Dunstable. The Grove was designed by Theatreplan and during the construction and commissioning phases, he took an active role in the building project and formed a close working relationship with our consultant team, gaining an insight into Theatreplan’s approach to theatre and technical design.
Matt’s first technical role was with the touring company ‘Holiday on Ice’ where he gained a huge amount of experience working on the show for eight years, in arenas across the globe and rose to the role of Chief Electrician for its Blue Division. After returning to the UK, Matt became Theatre Technician at Grimsby Auditorium and eventually Technical Manager, where he experienced modifying the venue to make it suitable for West End shows, requiring ingenuity and flexibility to transform the space.
Matt is currently leading the major development projects at the historic Grade A King’s Theatre in Edinburgh and Grade B Citizens Theatre in Glasgow. He is also in the final stages of leading a team on the technical upgrading of the Grade II listed Watford Colosseum.
