Peter Crockett
Stage Engineer
Peter joined Theatreplan in 2021 as a Stage Engineer and supports the team on many of our most prestigious stage engineering projects. He has contributed to the detailed design of a number of stage engineering systems, writing detailed specifications and producing design drawings, notably for King’s Theatre in Edinburgh, Scotland and New Territories East Cultural Centre in Hong Kong.
Peter previously worked for Cotswold Canals Trust where his work included undertaking risk analysis, providing engineering design solutions and producing option reports. Prior to this he was involved in Project Velocity Research Lab at the University of Bristol, which is researching into optimisation of chain drives for the British Olympic Cycling Team.
In his spare time Peter is a keen maker and photographer, and has built his own handmade pinhole camera. He was drawn to the opportunity with Theatreplan as a way of combining his love of engineering with a strong desire to make a contribution to the arts.
Peter is currently monitoring the final design and installation of a scheme he worked on at the Royal Danish Theatre due to be completed shortly. He is leading the stage engineering project at Petersfield Festival Hall and an upgrade to the flying system at the Barbican. He is also providing stage engineering solutions on projects for Newcastle Glasshouse Centre for Music, Telford Theatre and Belfast Strand Arts Centre
