Kit Lerman

Consultant and Head of Audio, Video, Broadcast

Kit Lerman

Kit joined Theatreplan in 2023 as Consultant and Head of Audio, Video and Broadcast. Having originally studied music and sound recording for theatre, and with a passion for opera and classical music, Kit is an experienced project leader and consultant, with wide ranging experience working with major venues, and cultural and media organisations in the UK.

Kit was Associate Production Manager for the Royal Opera House for over five years, where he organised live events and live broadcasts across all ROH stages. His role saw him lead on production planning, broadcast and streaming media, IT and digital asset management for capital projects, and working with technical and artistic teams to integrate filming into the production process.

Kit subsequently worked as Head of Production and Delivery at the prestigious Serpentine Galleries in London, where he focused on creating and later expanding a technical production department, to manage the complex exhibition, pavilion and live events programmes.

Other work as a freelance consultant has seen him build longstanding relationships with Imperial War Museum and Ballet Black, advising both on broadcast strategy and Covid-19 production adaptations. He advised the Barbican Centre on digital and live-streaming strategy and delivered a major live-streamed performance project for them. He has also worked on projects for NHK – Japan’s state broadcaster, and for the BBC.

Kit will bring his expertise to identify technology growth areas for theatre and performance, with an eye on future proofing and equipping venues with the latest and most efficient technology, able to support future programming requirements.

Kit is also passionate about environmental sustainability and aims to assist theatres in improving their infrastructure and facilities by implementing greener technical solutions and practices.

What We Do

What We Do
We provide the complete range of venue and auditorium planning, and technical design services, including lighting, sound, stage engineering,
AV, digital and communications. We cover all stages of a project, from feasibility and concept design, right through to construction and opening night.

We help design new spaces for performance, wherever live or digital content is shown and created, from concert halls and school theatres, to cinemas and motion capture studios. We also help refurbish historic theatres, and work with some of the world’s largest and most complex performance venues to upgrade their technical facilities.

Our Approach
Your vision, for your performance space, provides the focus for our work. We will closely collaborate with you, and other specialists when working as part of a design team, so we understand what you really need from your space. We will be honest with you about what we think is achievable and the best ways to go about delivering your vision. We will suggest new ideas that may not have been considered before and discuss these ideas with you to ensure they meet your requirements.

Why Choose Theatreplan?
