Kit Lerman

Consultant and Head of Audio, Video, Broadcast

Kit joined Theatreplan in 2023 as Consultant and Head of Audio, Visual and Broadcast. Having originally studied music and sound recording for theatre, and with a passion for opera and classical music, he is an experienced project leader and consultant with wide ranging experience working with major venues and cultural and media organisations in the UK.

Kit has most recently been heading up a project for Epic Games and 3Lateral in Serbia, assisting in the design of a motion capture studio, content review studio and a multi-function auditorium, due to complete in 2025. He also recently undertook a condition survey at Kilmarnock Palace Theatre and Grand Hall and is involved in one of Theatreplan’s largest projects at New Territories East Cultural Centre in Hong Kong.

Previously, Kit was Associate Production Manager for the Royal Opera House for over five years, where he organised live events and live broadcasts across all ROH stages. His role saw him lead on IT, streaming media, production planning and asset management for capital projects, working with technical and artistic teams to integrate filming into the production process. He subsequently worked as Head of Production and Delivery at the prestigious Serpentine Galleries in London, where he focused on building and expanding a new department to manage the complex exhibition and live events programmes. Previously, he worked as a freelance consultant for several leading organisations including Imperial War Museum, Ballet Black, NHK – Japan’s state broadcaster and the BBC.

Kit brings his expertise to identify technology growth areas with an eye on future proofing and equipping venues with the latest and most efficient technology, able to support future programming requirements. He is passionate about environmental sustainability and aims to assist theatres in improving their infrastructure and facilities by implementing greener technical solutions and practices.

We provide the complete range of venue and auditorium planning, and technical design services, including lighting, sound, stage engineering,
AV, digital and communications. We cover all stages of a project, from feasibility and concept design, right through to construction and opening night.

We help design new spaces for performance, wherever live or digital content is shown and created, from concert halls and school theatres, to cinemas and motion capture studios. We also help refurbish historic theatres, and work with some of the world’s largest and most complex performance venues to upgrade their technical facilities.
